A teardrop cabochon in each ear, domed and smooth, with the light settling on the curve above the colour.
One teardrop stone forms the body of each stud, crowned at the top with a single small cubic zirconia. They sit close to the lobe, and at this scale the shape from the Thornage Flowers print reads as colour before anything else.
Both pairs are made in recycled sterling silver, polished or plated in yellow gold. The silver takes green chalcedony, cool and softly clouded; the gold-plated takes rhodolite garnet, deeper and warmer. Cut as cabochons rather than faceted, the stones let light spread across the dome, so what you see is colour with a low, steady shine.
Small and light, they stay neat under a collar and wear comfortably through a long day. Up close the colour is what registers, which is why they hold up so well against knitwear and warmer tones.
Take the pair as they come, or split the silver and the gold across two piercings for something less matched. Kept in the dish by the door and worn most days.
